Well this one’s close to being done. I had to quickly tighten it up, since I’ll be moving from my usual drawing space (I guess you could say that)
This is perhaps the most challenging piece I’ve ever done, simply because it’s my first attempt at designing a character. I have to be completely honest and say that every other “design” I’ve worked on or attempted to work on, have been complete failures due to the fact that I mostly shot from the hip with each and every one of those.
This design must of took about 100 to 150 hours to conceive. I have to polish it up but since I’m not sure when I’ll have time again, I thought I’d hurry it up and post a semi finished version of it. The rendering part was much easier than the designing stage. I'd like to say this piece would of took me no more than 4 hours if i had an initial design to use as reference.
My goal here was, like I said, design. I think the word design is taken too lightly when it’s brought up. Designing something means one has to come up with something new, original and cool, as feng zhu says. That is easier said than done.
I’d like to say I’m mostly proud of this design and I’ll admit, I def borrowed a page off SPARTH’S mask designs and I was def inspired by the Killzone designs as well. So I guess that takes the originality out of my design. Lol
There’s still about a hundred hours left on this piece. I’ll be posting that, along with all the pencil, ink and digital sketches that lead to this design.
This is one of many to come. Hopefully we find our solid HUD design soon!
this definitely has a lot to go if you're going for a "finished" painting. I dunno if you meant 100 hours on Hud designs. Or a 100 more hours on this painting. You don't need to add 100 more hours to this painting. Unless you're gonna clean it up pixel by pixel. You could finish this piece off in 5-6 hours. or less. Cuz its basically there, it just needs rendering and adjustments. Which it doesn't even really need unless you're going for a finished piece. but it looks sick as is anyway. I like the word bubble. Very steambotty. lol. i mean.. street.
i want to go for the luvisi finish. but... i'm not sure if it's worth it anymore, since it's not a final design. this could use another 5 to 10 hours though. we'll see. i'm fairly happy with the final design though. we'll see how the new designs come out. i'm super tired right now. lol i'll write you tomorrow.
